Definitely remove their nuts. And if you're a guy and it's female, you know what to do.Survey on pest control: what's the best way to deal with amorous squirrels?
Birth control pills or IUDs.
A pellet rifle. Or if you've got enough land; a shotgun.
Haha! great question and I agree with the quote about nuts... ;) xxxx

Birth control for squirrels? Are you kidding me?
Santa Monica, California is planning to spend 2-10 dollars of birth control vaccines on each squirrel caught. Apparenly a small percentage of squirrels may harbor the bubonic plague. Who has ever been attacked by a squirrel? For crying out loud those things don't even get close to humans. Don't you think our tax dollars could be better spent?Birth control for squirrels? Are you kidding me?
It's no joke...-%26amp; it's not really the squirrels attacking humans that the Aurthorities are concerned about. The plague is usually spread animal to animal- and dogs ESPECIALLY, love to chase squirrels. If the infected squirrels start spreading the plague to other animals- suddenly you have a really BIG problem on your hands, %26amp; that's why California wants to put them on the ';pill';. I know the idea sounds alittle ';weird';- but there IS some method to the madness.Birth control for squirrels? Are you kidding me?
no, and be glad as certain groups have been hunting these small animals down for FOOD! I can't say the group as I will get a violation from Yahoo! it happens and not to just these creatures but other small animals and birds too
The plague is transmitted by fleas. Squirrels carry the plague bacteria in their bloodstream. The flea bites the squirrel and slurps up the ifected blood. ow the flea is carrying the plague bacteria. A person walking in the area where the flea resides gets bitten by the same flea. Now the person has the plague.
So, lowering the number of squirrels does have a direct impact on the possibility of YOU contracting the black plague.
Don't Be Fooled !! It is not birth control, they put the squirrels to sleep, then house them in a big squirrel corral, THEN, they declare squirrels an endangered species, steal prime squirrel land from it's owners, get millions in grants to restore the squirrels,,,,all that's left is to drive the herd of squirrel over, declare success and forever be known as the defenders of squirrel rites...and give them the right to vote sometime down the road....

My dog is out of control! he's 5 years old, and when ever he sees a squirrel (or some animal) he goes crazy..?
and he's ripped the screens numerous times, just today he was in my brothers room, and someone how got the screen off and ran out the window. he hates cats, so i'm afraid one day he'll do it again, and get into a big brawl with a cat. i can't afford obidience school, whenever he does it i get mad and say ';bad dog'; but he still does it! we need the windows open cause we don't have air conditioning. please help! thanks! :)My dog is out of control! he's 5 years old, and when ever he sees a squirrel (or some animal) he goes crazy..?
The only answer is training. If you can't afford classes just look on the internet there are some very good guides.
By the way getting mad won't help at all. He will just take it as you getting excited too and this will probably make him worse.
Finally he won't get into a 'big brawl' with a cat - he will kill the cat.My dog is out of control! he's 5 years old, and when ever he sees a squirrel (or some animal) he goes crazy..?
This is natural dog behavior. He is most certainly not a 'bad dog' for following his instincts (and once the fixed action pattern starts it is not really possible to stop it unless the object/prey suddenly disappears). And getting mad about it only serves your purposes, not the dog's.
Managing your dog's environment (closing windows/doors) unless he is being closely supervised and until you learn to 'read' your dog is probably your best option at this point.
Expecting him to learn (overnight no less) not to go through screens is unrealistic - especially since he has been reinforced for this behavior every time he has succeeded in the past.
Sorry, close the windows or keep him under constant watch. Your options are limited without professional help.
I have a 5 year old Shepard Lab Mix. Same squirrelly behavior. Shepards are high energy. Take him to the dog park and let him run it off or... search for a doggie day camp near you. They will sleep like babies.
I tried the book ';The Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training';- and I love it. I collect idiot books, and this one has been the most helpful by far.
I recommend exercising your dog. A tired dog, is a happy dog. Nice long walks, runs, and off leash activity!
You could also look into things like lure coursing. Good for prey driven dogs! You don't have to pay a ton of money to keep your dog occupied.
He's got a high prey drive. He doesn't understand ';bad dog'; so it does no good to punish him. You need to train him. If you didn't have the money for training, you shouldn't have this breed of dog. You have to teach him ';leave it';. It's going to take time and effort on your part since you don't want professional help with this. Here is a guide to help you:

You will need to practice this EVERYday with him, several times a day for no more than 10 minute increments at a time. Eventually, he will get to the point where you can say ';leave it'; to anything (squirrels, works especially well for us on walks with cats, lizards and crickets) and your dog will not go after it. Our female has a very high prey drive. It took months and months of reinforcement before she got this. Does this mean she leaves things alone when we aren't around? No. Without someone there to say the command, she will go after whatever she sees. However, it has been helpful for walks because she lots of exercise. Also, when we aren't home, she stays in the bedroom where she has no access to the windows (can't see outside, can't find something to go after). We put her in after an hour long walk and leave her bullysticks, bullycubes, kongs, etc. to keep her occupied.
Good luck. You will have to work with this very hard on your own. Set your dog up for success. As a responsible owner, you have the power to do this!

Squirrels are nibbling away seedlings & shoots in garden ( Delhi). How to control menace without killing them?
Sprinkle cayenne pepper on the dirt around the plants and they will stay away. It's a great, humane trick and is highly recommended at the Scott Common Sense Community

To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it. Squirrels are nibbling away seedlings %26amp; shoots in garden ( Delhi). How to control menace without killing them?
Buy a trap, bait it per manuf. instructions. Catch squirrel, relocate to another part of town and release. Squirrels are nibbling away seedlings %26amp; shoots in garden ( Delhi). How to control menace without killing them?

How can I control (kill) rats in my backyard but not hurt squirrels , pets or wild birds?
I have lots of trees and foliage and don't particularly like poisons. How can I control (kill) rats in my backyard but not hurt squirrels , pets or wild birds?
Build a rat house that has small entrances that only rats can enter (this can be a sturdy cardboard box). Put in rotting food and line the bottom of the rat house with sitcky rat traps. The rats will enter the house and get caught on the traps and die quickly and humanely.
I would not recommend letting rats go, as they will find their way back over and over and over and over..... Besides, rats procreate very, very quickly and carry a multitude of diseases (responsible for the black plaque, remember?), much more than mice. And, because rats will eat decaying matter, they have a high incidence of rabies from eating rabid animals.
A cat will be a moderate solution as simply the presence helps keep vermin down. But. rats are large and most cats aren't interested in rats. How can I control (kill) rats in my backyard but not hurt squirrels , pets or wild birds?
A BB gun will do the trick!
get a cat
You need some cats.
get a cat. squirrels are too fast to get caught. generally.
locate a high profile bait station where the rat sized snap traps can fit inside. It will keep larger animals and kids out and I have never seen a squirrel go inside one. The preference though would be to place bait blocks in them. The blocks lock down and won't easily come out. Avoid the pellets for as mentioned they can be removed and taken elsewhere and I don't trust a rat enough to think he won't drop any.
Go to a good garden center or farm store and ask if they have Ramik Green. You pour the pellets down the rat hole and securely covered the hole with a rock, brick, board, etc.,--something sturdy--you can weight down a board. The rats take it away to their nests and then the rats are gone. I see where you can order this product on line as well.
Don't kill the rats! That's terrible! Try humane traps that would trap rats but not kill them-- you can just release them into the wild.

Have you ever had to call Critter Control about an angry squirrel that was lose in your house??
isn't that what they call dinner delivery in redneck land???Have you ever had to call Critter Control about an angry squirrel that was lose in your house??

No. Not yet, but I would rather call Mike Rowe.
Good Luck, they are a pain in the butt to catch. Hope eveything works out. If you narrow it down you can set a trap for it instead of wasting money to have someone else do it.
hehehehehehe.....sounds like you have problems...
lmao
no but one time a field mouse came in the backdoor and that thing i married shot it with a 22
No. I would suggest opening the doors and making a lot of noise.... Enough noise to make it want to leave and never come back.
No. I think the only time I ever called animal control was when I saw a large dog playing chicken with cars on a busy highway. I didn't want the dog or anyone else to get hurt.
Thank goodness this has never happened to me. I would have probably killed myself in trying to run from the thing.
No!
Hide your nuts!
No, but my husband says I'm angry.blackheads

Do you think squirrels need birth control?
No way! So there's a lot of squirrels, but so what! I love squirrels! Does it matter if there's a ton of squirrels? NO! They do NOTHING to hurt people. That's has got to be the lamest idea ever.Do you think squirrels need birth control?
I agree with you! lol
I love squirrels too, and nature has a way of making sure that they don't overrun the towns and cities where they live.
I live in a city where, unfortunately, bunnies have become a 'problem' (according to city council). The city has tried to set up a 'birth control' program by having the captured bunnies neutered (lol) with no luck! (imagine that?) Sadly, the program didn't last long, and now the poor bunnies are being caught and killed. It's sad but true, and to think, that most of these bunnies USED to be pets, people can be so cruel! :(Do you think squirrels need birth control?
Of course. There is no good thing about squirrels. They are a major pest around here. They are not native, and there are no natural enemies. So they just take over. They wreck havoc on everything... they have no useful purpose. And they are so stupid. They don't know they are not wanted!!
Get rid of them!!!
Can I send all mine to you? They destroy bird seed feeders wreak havoc in your ceilings and eat your wiring. They nest in your air vents piping.Really they do harm humans but its not personal, they just like to live too.
thats a dumb Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i swear u ask the stupidest questions
